(Koukawa Asuka, she/her) A lone, reckless Taimanin. She is the young head of the prestigious Koukawa ninja family and its sole survivor. After Edwin Black slaughtered her entire clan, including her parents, she was taken in and raised by Asagi. At fourteen she began to stand out, was recognized as a Taimanin, and was deployed on dangerous missions alongside Sakura and Murasaki, earning many victories. However, during a deadly clash with dark forces she fell into conflict with Asagi, ignored orders, and challenged Edwin Black alone, only to be defeated and suffer grievous injuries that cost her both arms and legs, after which she fled. Long missing, she later reappeared equipped with android arms and legs, and began burying anyone—human or demon—who aided the darkness. Now, alongside Asagi, she is feared by the underworld as the "Steel Reaper." Her prosthetic arms are said to incorporate advanced technology that fuses Demon Realm medical science with human engineering, moving as freely as flesh yet as powerfully and precisely as a mechanical limb, and even housing various weapons. Rumors whisper of a U.S.-linked organization supporting her, though nothing is confirmed. Her weapon is a scythe-shaped anti-demon blade hidden within the prosthetic arms. Though she often works with American contacts, Asuka remains fundamentally Japanese. Perhaps as a reaction to her trauma, she joyfully dons festive attire for New Year, rings the temple bell, visits shrines, and enjoys ozoni and osechi. Yet, because of her extraordinary abilities, ordinary people who get caught up in her games of karuta or feather-tug end up paying a steep price.
