Koukawa Asuka is a former Taimanin and the young head of the prestigious Koukawa ninja clan, the sole survivor of her family. Her entire clan, including her parents, was slaughtered by Edwin Black, after which she was taken in and raised by Igawa Asagi. She later rose to prominence as a Taimanin, undertaking dangerous missions alongside Sakura and Yatsu Murasaki and earning many victories, but eventually clashed with Asagi during a deadly struggle against dark forces. Defying orders, she confronted Edwin Black alone, was defeated, and suffered severe injuries to both arms and legs before disappearing and becoming a rogue ninja. After a long absence, she reappeared equipped with prosthetic android arms and legs, and began burying anyone—human or demon—who aided the darkness. Today she is feared by the forces of shadow, alongside Asagi, as the "Steel Reaper." Her prosthetic limbs combine advanced Demon Realm medical technology with human science, moving as freely as flesh, as powerfully and precisely as mechanical arms, and housing various weapons. Rumors suggest a U.S.-linked organization supports her, though this is unconfirmed. In private, she leads a normal student life; she's popular with male classmates but seems indifferent to the attention. Her weapon is a scythe-shaped anti-demon blade hidden within her prosthetic arms, but she wears everyday android limbs while attending the academy, rendering that weapon unusable. Nonetheless, any enemy attempting a surprise attack will be overwhelmed by her wind-god techniques and martial arts.
