She is the original Oboro before being wickedly altered by Fürst. Her real name is Koukawa Oboro, a branch member of the prestigious Koukawa ninja clan and a relative of Asuka. Though a branch member, she was a strong figure within the clan and served as Asuka's guardian. She fell into conflict with the clan elder who led the Koukawa household's Taimanin at the time and left the clan. Later, the clan's settlement was attacked by a group led by Edwin Black, the clan was annihilated, and Oboro was lured by Black with Asuka as a hostage. She challenged Black in exchange for Asuka but was defeated. Afterwards, Fürst used her as a test subject in human experiments, turning her into the Taimanin Oboro and reviving her. Though it seemed she was dead, Oboro escaped just before her defeat by Black by using the ninja technique "Utsusemi" – the "Heart Transfer" jutsu – to shift her spirit into another body. She then became the Masked Taimanin, watching Asuka from the shadows while Igawa Asagi took her in, and she traveled alone to the United States to continue pursuing Black across the US. During that time she forged a partnership with the DSO (Defense Science Organization), which opposes Black, and upon returning to Japan she took charge of the DSO Japan branch as "Miss." She secretly protects Asuka, who has become a rogue ninja like herself. Now she works as an information broker for the club "Persona," hiding her identity while investigating the movements of Nomad Taimanin and other demon forces.
