Shinganji Kurenai is a half-vampire, half-human who walks the path of a Taimanin, an outlier even among her kind. She was taught swordsmanship by her grandfather, Shinganji Gen-an—one of the legendary Fuuma Eight Generals—and was once eyed as his successor. However, after Gen-an fell from grace for aiding the Fuuma clan during an internal conflict, Kurenai left her village and now operates independently, belonging to no faction. Because of her former status as a Fuuma Eight General, she has a longstanding acquaintance with Fuuma Kotaro, the clan's heir. Though they grew apart after she ran away, she's recently heard rumors of him in the dark town and finds herself quietly intrigued.
