Merriam was once a witch of immense magical power, but after being defeated by a Taimanin she had her magic sealed. The sealing shrank her body, and she has lived in this diminished form ever since. Though her magic is sealed, she still possesses enough power to imbue her familiars with spells for attacks. Her reduced stature has also made her personality seem childlike, yet she speaks with an arrogant tone. She longs to regain her original body but lacks any knowledge of how to break the seal, and a hint of resignation has begun to set in. To avoid being targeted by other species, she does not reveal her true name. Since she operates in the Human Realm, she's learned that she must blend in to some extent; studying human customs, she discovered the concept of Valentine's Day. She promptly asked an acquaintance about it, but either the source or her interpretation was off, leaving her with a vague, confused understanding.
