Kise Hotaru is a Taimanin enrolled at Gosha Academy. She has a bright, caring personality that naturally draws people to her. Because of her highly versatile and unique abilities, she is also selected for combat missions. Though she dislikes conflict, she cannot stand by while demon tribes commit crimes or organizations misuse Demon Realm technology, so she eagerly accepts any assignment. She admires Yatsu Murasaki, who has possessed adult-level Taimanin power since school days, and whenever she has free time after class she receives extra training from Murasaki. Her use of a battle axe stems from that admiration as well. The heavy, destructive axe pairs well with her ability to manipulate the weight of anything she touches, though its bulk makes transport difficult. Junior male students from the science club, who look up to Hotaru, have developed a special Taimanin suit to help her unleash her powers, and she has been asked to test it. The concept emphasizes light movement and enhanced jumping, so the original design resembled a bunny suit. When Hotaru expressed reservations, the designers stripped every piece of bunny-suit fabric from the full-body outfit. Hotaru was initially angry, saying "That's not what I meant," but the apologetic juniors convinced her to accept the trial reluctantly—though, of course, they did it on purpose.
