Irene Walt makes her base in Tokyo Kingdom and constantly exudes a sour mood. She keeps both hands tucked in her pockets and never shows them in public. Though she dislikes people and often stays alone, she somehow remains popular with children, and on occasion she's been spotted playing soccer with the city's street kids. In truth, she is a combat hacker who joins battles herself, subdues enemies head-on, and then extracts data. Publicly she works as a freelancer, but she serves as a de facto exclusive external collaborator for the DSO (Defense Science Office) Japan branch to secure backing. Even in combat she never uses her hands, fighting solely with her feet; she only employs her hands when typing program code or in a desperate, life-or-death pinch. Her right ring and pinky fingers and her left index finger are android extensions that let her type at high speed, plug directly into any device's socket, or wirelessly hijack nearby machinery. Raised as an orphan in the U.S. slums and discarded by society, she was also preyed upon by the underworld, losing her fingers in the process. This past fuels a deep grudge against her homeland, the underworld, and the demon factions that dominate them. She eventually plans to break free from national and organizational ties and found an organization that rescues orphans and abused children. She claims she hides her hands to keep her android fingers secret, but the real reason is embarrassment over her now-mechanical digits.
