Uehara Shikanosuke is a Taimanin and a student at Gosha Academy. He is a practitioner of the electric-style ninjutsu and is the cousin of Uehara Rin, famed as the "Electric-Shining Taimanin." Though the Uehara family doesn't match the prestige of the Igawa or Kōga houses, it is a long-standing noble line of senior ninjas. His electric ninjutsu may sound flashy on paper, but unlike the "Thunder" style that commands bolts, it manipulates the faint electrical currents that exist in living beings, yielding power comparable to static electricity in winter. Because he has resistance to electricity, he's often teased as being best suited for electrical work rather than combat. He acknowledges that his techniques are hardly combat-oriented. He also uses shuriken as a weapon, but his small stature places his combat ability among the lowest of the Taimanin. Nevertheless, his sense of justice burns hot, and he would sacrifice his life to uphold it… albeit while fleeing or sobbing. An old tradition in the Uehara house dictates that boys be cross-dressed to protect them from male-targeting evil spirits; as a result, Shikanosuke was raised as a girl until age six. He still carries the lingering embarrassment from that time, feeling ashamed to be seen topless in public, even if only his upper body is exposed.
