She is a Taimanin. Coming from a line of junior ninjas who have served the Fuuma family for generations, she is also a classmate at Gosha Academy. Among beast-transformation users, she is a star "Beast-Transformation Ninja" who can imbue her body with animal power. Her beast form is the "Devilfish" type, meaning she turns into an octopus. Though her name is Hebiko, she becomes an octopus—a confusing fact the protagonist points out; Hebiko explains that the name comes from her great-grandmother, who was a beast-transformation ninja that turned into a great snake. When she octopus-transforms, each leg becomes a single thick tentacle, and she favors a four-blade style using those tentacles and four ninja short swords. She claims to be 150 cm tall; when told she's probably 149 cm, she spits ink in anger. The ink she releases in her beast form is infamous at Gosha, feared for leaving a fishy stench on anyone's body for three days and nights.
