She is a demon woman who has lived for ages. Her origins and history are shrouded in mystery. Though apparently from the Demon Realm, she has resided in the Human Realm since ancient times, concealing her identity and adopting countless aliases while traversing the world's underworld. Despite being long-lived, she claims to be "still just a twenty-something girl," and her acting skills are sufficient to make others believe it; she maintains a voluptuous yet youthful body and beauty. She has the ability to gain power from objects imbued with human desire, and she uses this power to sustain her magical energy and preserve her youthful form and life. She does this by seducing humans and coaxing them into giving her gifts that are imbued with their desires, which she then uses to fuel her own power. When her true nature is about to be exposed, she disappears without a trace, but if she likes a place or has a target in sight, she will linger for as long as possible. She is searching for "Pure Greed," a desire that arises from the human struggle between restraint and desire, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to find in this corrupt world. In the spring, when young people are full of hope and dreams, Tamamo thinks that perhaps she can find the seeds of "Pure Greed" in their youthful and ambitious desires. She decides to dress up as a cheerleader and go out to scout for potential targets.
