Kurahashi Hokuto is a student sorcerer belonging to the Kyoto institute that trains onmyōji. She is an exceptional practitioner of barrier magic using shikigami, counted among the candidates to become the second generation of the era's strongest barrier master, Kibino Miki. Coming from a distinguished line of sorcerers who have fought demons for generations, she has received elite education as a sheltered daughter. Her personality is so serious it borders on rigidity; she strives to behave pure and correct so she can serve as a model for other students. Lately she's been troubled by the conduct of her homeroom teacher, Kamimura Azuma. While she acknowledges his abilities, she wishes he would quit smoking and curb his rough language. Despite her earnest exterior, she secretly admires the idol concerts and café hopping that her classmates enjoy, and she quietly watches video streams and food-blog posts as a hobby.
