She is a Taimanin student at Gosha Academy, a practitioner of the Shadow Escape technique, which allows her to manipulate shadows and control the movements of those whose shadows she manipulates. No one can resist this technique with brute force, regardless of their physical strength. However, the range of shadows she can manipulate is limited, and against powerful opponents like high-ranking demons or top-class Taimanin, she can only manage to slow them down. She not only uses her technique to manipulate or restrain enemies but also to perform impossible maneuvers by manipulating her own shadow. She is a serious and hardworking person who dislikes joking around, but her dedication has allowed her to master her initially weak ninja techniques. Her abilities are recognized by everyone, and she is often compared to Igawa Sakura, another Shadow Escape practitioner, despite their vastly different personalities. Mikage Koume admires and respects Igawa Sakura's strength, but sometimes feels discouraged by the difference in their abilities. As the year-end festivities approach, Mikage Koume is given an undercover mission in a dark town filled with Christmas decorations, where the light displays can interfere with her Shadow Escape technique.
