She is a half-vampire, half-human outcast who lives as a Taimanin. She received swordsmanship instruction from her grandfather, the Fuuma Eight-General Shinganji Gen-an, and was once slated to inherit his position. However, after the Fuuma clan fell from grace due to a rebellion, Gen-an was ousted and Kurenai left the Fuuma village. Now she operates independently from the dark city of Senzaki. She fights for the "justice" she believes in. To support the Fuuma who infiltrated a certain academy for investigation, Kurenai also enrolled in that school. Though she has complicated feelings about student life, she's buoyed by Fuuma's presence. She participates actively in classes and club activities, standing out despite the infiltration, and seems to be enjoying herself.
