She is a Taimanin and a loyal attendant who has served Shinganji Kurenai for many years. Once a promising elite Taimanin, she volunteered to become Kurenai's follower after Kurenai saved her life during a certain incident, becoming enamored with Kurenai's strength and kindness. She possesses the ability called "Wind-reading," an ocular power that lets her sense the flow of wind around her, granting her sniper precision of astonishing accuracy and advanced spatial awareness and situational perception that borders on precognition. Though she gives off the aura of a gentle older sister, she harbors a fierce side that will stop at nothing to protect her master, Kurenai. Currently she is delighted that relations are being restored between her master Kurenai and the Fuuma headmaster Fuuma Kotaro, while anxiously watching their future and wondering "what will happen from here." As an attendant, Ayame also handles Kurenai's daily chores, giving her a high maid skill; she even passed a maid-ability test with a first-class rating. By contrast, Kagari, another of Kurenai's attendants, failed the test due to the effects of demonic transformation and seems to hold a grudge against Ayame.
