She is the head of the Bondo family, whose estate lies in a corner of the outer edge of Gosha. Though her family's standing differs greatly, she is a student headmaster like Fuuma. For generations the Bondo have had strong overseas ties; during the sakoku period they acted as a gateway for Southern barbarian technology. Even today, with increased foreign exchange, they maintain their own pipelines with the United States Union and the Chinese Federation. Because of this lineage, many marriages to foreigners occurred, and in the closed-off earlier era the Bondo children were often treated as outsiders, so they were educated from birth in the traditional ways of a samurai household. Maria received that upbringing, adopting the refined manner of a classic Yamato nadeshiko, and is well-versed in tea ceremony and flower arranging, wearing kimono as everyday attire. When she steps onto the battlefield she brandishes her beloved ninja sword with vigor, but her trump card is Western swordsmanship: using the Golden-Escape technique she transforms her ninja blade into a rapier to bewilder her foes. This follows the family creed of appearing as a proper samurai while never forgetting what she has learned from foreign lands.
