Shinonome Yahiro is a student Taimanin at Gosha Academy. She stands over two meters tall. As a child she showed talent for the soul-stealing technique, but after being caught in a tragic shipwreck and exposed to the vengeful spirits of those who drowned, her ability mutated. Now she can manipulate the ghosts of drowned victims as if they were ninjutsu, though her entire body is constantly damp, she cannot go far from the sea, and occasionally stray vengeful thoughts burst out, startling those around her (though they cause no real harm). Rather than being a tool she's more like being possessed. Nevertheless, she excels in missions on the surface and underwater, and the academy, recognizing her contributions and circumstances, allows her to attend classes remotely and study individually. She's a strong swimmer and diver; even the trauma-inducing depths don't repel her, and because she's always wet she feels no discomfort, spending much time submerged. She's even devised a technique that wraps the ghosts in air and carries them underwater, letting her stay submerged for hours. Because of her appearance, stature, and the attached evil spirit, few people seek her out, and she keeps her distance to avoid inconveniencing others, so she has few friends or acquaintances. Still, her kindness and devotion to comrades mean that once someone becomes close to her, she is a quiet but very gentle and calm senior.
