She is a student Taimanin who uses the stealth technique known as Anshin. She employs a ninja art that creates a pitch-black star on the back of her hand, which steals and absorbs light. Volunteering for dangerous missions and fighting on the front lines in a battle-crazy style has earned her the nickname "Blood-Battle Jigokumaru," and others keep their distance from her. She believes that "strong equals cool" and pursues coolness above all else. Stubbornly devoted to being cool, she radiates intimidation with her sharp gaze, and even as a Gosha student she stands out by wearing a black uniform she sourced herself. She even self-describes her Anshin technique as the "Idol that steals every sparkle — Black Star." Her willingness to take on perilous missions stems from a chūnibyō-style heroism and a self-destructive desire to "go out in style." Though she projects a hard-boiled demeanor, a narcissistic streak of eccentricity shines through. Nevertheless, she observes proper etiquette, gets along fairly well, and often tries to look cool in front of juniors, showing herself as a good senior. While she pretends to be a stoic, unsmiling character, she sometimes bursts into silly jokes, loves high places, and climbs rooftops or poles—gaps that others find cute. She dislikes being called cute, so few say it to her face. Her father comes from a Taimanin family, but her mother is not a Taimanin; she is the head of the Jigokumaru school of Ikebana. Her father married into her mother's family, and Akira herself practices Ikebana, possessing enough skill to be touted as the next headmaster. She now lives in the Gosha Academy dormitory, devoting herself daily to both Taimanin duties and Ikebana.
