Meijo Rui is a student Taimanin who's a bit shy and a bit of a people-phobe, but she's a master of plush-craft. Using her family's special thread, she can sew a unique doll that temporarily traps a target's soul and abilities when she activates her ninjutsu. The doll only works if its design and size are "cute" enough for Rui, and the seal breaks after a set time, returning the soul and powers to the body. Her technique has two effects: first, by controlling a soul-filled doll, she can make the original perform the same actions; second, once she lets go of the doll, the trapped soul can act on its own, and Rui can further restrict or guide its thoughts and movements, which the soul cannot resist. The trigger for capture is the target's feeling that they want to protect Rui; when that moment arrives and she holds the doll, she can unleash the technique. Because of this, she excels at support missions like turning allies into dolls for infiltration rather than using it on enemies. Her seemingly "weak" demeanor sometimes provokes a protective instinct, causing even more souls to be captured. In reality, her timid act hides a surprisingly strong hand-to-hand skill—she can easily pin down a charging Orc. Her usual companion, "Warrior God Taro," is the first doll she ever made and has developed its own personality after absorbing too many souls since childhood. Since then, Rui tries to make her dolls disposable. Only souls that truly want to protect her are captured, and their abilities are on par with ordinary dolls. She also collects many dolls made with regular thread.
